Our Curriculum
From curious babies to confident five-year-olds ready for their next big step, every day at Lily Pad is filled with opportunities to learn, explore, and grow. Our nursery is a place where children are encouraged to discover the world around them through play, imagination, and meaningful experiences.Guiding us on this journey is our curriculum which is split into four key areas: Life Skills, Discovery, Relationships & Communication.
Our Otters also work towards being school ready.-
Life Skills
We support children in developing their independence, resilience, and confidence in everyday tasks. From learning how to dress themselves and manage personal hygiene, to making choices and solving simple problems, children are encouraged to take pride in their growing abilities. These experiences help build self-esteem and prepare them for the next stage of their learning journey.

Discovery
Curiosity is at the heart of everything we do. We provide exciting opportunities for children to explore, investigate, and make sense of the world around them. Through hands-on activities, outdoor learning, and creative experiences, children develop critical thinking skills and a love of learning. We encourage questions, experimentation, and imagination in a stimulating and supportive environment.
-
Relationships
Strong, positive relationships are key to children’s wellbeing and development. We foster a warm, inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued, and respected. Through group activities, cooperative play, and guidance from caring practitioners, children learn to share, take turns, and develop empathy and understanding of others.
-
Communication
We place great importance on developing children’s communication skills. Through storytelling, singing, conversations, and role play, children are encouraged to express themselves and listen to others. We support the development of language, vocabulary, and confidence in speaking, laying strong foundations for literacy and social interaction.
